This most popular course is the main choice of beginning sailors. It offers a comprehensive start to learn how to sail. It allows the successful candidate to be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a sloop rigged keelboat of 6 to 10 meters with an outboard or inboard motor in moderate wind and sea conditions by day.

Only have time for a 2.5hr Charter Lesson or 4 evening sessions? These two options provide the opportunity to experience sailing. To introduce novice boaters to safe practices when preparing to leave the dock, while underway, and when returning to dock. This standard may be taught in a sailing vessel or a powerboat.

Learn to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a sailing yacht of 9 to 12 meters, sloop rigged with an inboard engine, in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. The standard emphasizes on-the-water skills at a level acceptable for bare boat chartering for extended cruises in coastal waters.
The Advanced standard allows on to be able to act safely as skipper and crew of a sailing cruiser of 10 – 15 meters, any modern rig and inboard engine, operating within 100 miles of shore by day and night in coastal or inland water in any weather.
Learn how to operate a VHF Marine Radio with DSC (Digital Selective Calling) and receive a Radio Operators Certificate-Maritime. This course is perfect for commercial fisherman up to 25NM or recreational boaters.
Learn to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a vessel in coastal or inland waters. The concepts are introduced in the Intermediate Cruising and Power Standards. The Coastal Navigation Standard is applied practically and tested in the Advanced Cruising Standard.
This mandatory certificate for those operating engines is offered with the Basic Course and is available in course or via challenge exams.
Learn the basics of keelboat racing and receive a Sail Canada certification. Basic Keelboat Racing Standard - To be able to participate in local club white sail (non spinnaker) races as both skipper and crew, of a sloop rigged keelboat of 6 to 10 meters with an outboard or inboard motor in moderate wind and sea conditions by day, with sufficient understanding of the racing rules, race management procedures, and tactics to successfully complete the race in an enjoyable manner.
