Spirit of Canada
Ocean Challenges

Prior to his sad passing, World Class Solo sailor Derek Hatfield, and his professional team aboard his last boat, a Volvo 60' sailboat called Spirit of Adventure, influenced greatly our staff and students.

We learned offshore sailing techniques, sail configurations, nutrition, sleep patterns, navigation, survival techniques, weather and a host of other items, professional teams would face when sailing around the world. We have taken those lessons, and the variety of offshore races and legs from his premiere racing boats and built them into our Sail Canada/World Sailing certifying Personal Survival at Sea course. For further information contact sail@waveskills.ca as we dedicated these safety courses to he and his family.
